Meet the Risland Homes Team: Jian Kuang Payne

Tell us about yourself, Jian!

I’ve been working in sales for 27 years, after getting my International Trade Business degree in China back in 1994. I moved to the US in 1997, transitioning into home sales and working as a sales associate with a new home builders company in Texas. I came to Risland Homes two and a half years ago, and now I feel like this is a home for me. 

And what attracted you to the Risland Homes team?

Three years ago, I met with the team at my own model home in Frisco. I found out they were starting a new community in Prosper, TX, in the DFW area. I was superexcited to hear that and felt a great connection with them (plus, they’re Hong Kong-based, and I’m Chinese!). Immediately, I wanted to join!

What’s your favorite part of working at Risland Homes?

I joined early on—before the Legacy Gardens community opened—and loved seeing the rapid growth of our team. We worked together diligently and developed great relationships with the realtors and lenders. We poured our hearts into the project. Looking back, we feel very proud to be a part of these great new communities!

What’s a day in the life of Jian Kuang Payne like?

Initially working for Risland Homes as Sales Counselor, I prepared model homes for daily tours, showcasing what we offer to our buyers. I listened to their needs, matching what we can offer based on their budgets. I’m told I’m a good listener… and people like my humor too!Following my maternity leave at the start of 2021, I’m now Online Sales Manager and Closing Coordinator for Mantua Point. I’m essentially a bridge between the buyers, builders, lenders, and title company—ensuring on-time, accurate closings.

And finally, your favorite new-construction home style?

I love all Risland Homes designs, but if I have to pick one, I’d say our Cathy model. White-painted brick is totally on-trend. The supermodern interior design is on-point, showcasing the high vaulted ceiling. The industrial staircase is just so unique. Plus, the media space option makes it great for hosting parties. For sure, this is a house for people who love to entertain guests!
